The Chill Out Zone is a project of the Gold Coast Youth Service, and funded by the Queensland Government through the Department of Communities.
The Chill Out Zone service is the first of its kind in the world. The Chill Out Zone is an immediate care service located in Surfers Paradise, Queensland. The service is staffed by professionals in various fields, and works to minimize harm to individuals who come to our late night precinct in Surfers.
The Chill Out Zone service operates each Friday and Saturday night from 10.30 pm to 4.30 am, from a purpose-built van located in Victoria Park (Opposite Surf Parade and East Nightclub). We operate patrols in and around the Broadbeach precinct and are happy for you to contact us on Friday and Saturday nights during 10:30 pm to 4:00 am on 0410 716 561. Note that this number is non-operational outside these times!
Our Services include but are not limited to:
First Aid & Drinking Water
Phone charging & Internet Access
Immediate care for intoxication (drug and alcohol)
A designated “place of safety” for Police or self referral
Time out space from the precinct
Assistance with managing existing health conditions
Precinct, transport and venue information
Referral to other services -including Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS)
Provide rest and recovery to people who have consumed alcohol or have used drugs.
